AO Version Of Manhunt 2 Will Be Digitally Released Next Week

I’m guessing there’s way more blood in this version.manhunt-2-images

You might remember the controversy behind Manhunt 2’s release back in 2007.  When Manhunt 2 was originally screened by the ESRB, it was mark with the Mark of Death or the Adults Only rating.  What was weird was that despite having the rating, it still could have been released, but the consoles which it was intended to be released on restricted AO games.  It stir the stew of controversy and had everybody questioning the ESRB’s rating system also had that Jack Thompson guy talking nonsense again.  It was also banned in a few foreign countries.  Pretty punk rock, if you ask me.

Eventually, Rockstar made “heavy cuts”, which means almost nothing to us consumers since we weren’t notified what warranted the AO rating, to gain a more family friendly M rating and released the game to modest critical reception.

Well come this November 9th, we will not have to wonder anymore.  Rockstar will be releasing the AO version through Direct2Drive.  I’m slightly interested to see what made this “cut” basically banned, but with the Fall release schedule amping up, not sure where this will land on my table.
