Sacred 2 Fallen Angel Review

We take a look at this Diablo like hack and slash RPG for the Xbox 360

I probably spent way too much time of my younger years playing Diablo 1 and 2 on the PC back in the day. Unfortunately there really has not been a proper successor to that game on the Xbox 360 till now. Sacred 2 Fallen Angel is a hack and slash RPG style game that offers a ton of content and a deep story for you to explore.

The game was released first for PC some 7 months ago and the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 version of the game features a improved user interface which is better suited for consoles. Which you are going to appreciate because this game is truly epic in every sense of the word.

Being compared favorably to perhaps one of the most beloved game franchises in Diablo is not a bad thing. In fact, Sacred 2 takes that winning formula and improves on it in every single way. You can have your hard hitting warrior or your magic throwing mage as you roam the lands of Ancaria slaughtering monsters and leveling your character up as you loot their corpse. Besides that you also have the ability to choose which side you serve, either the light campaign or the campaign of shadows. What side you choose really doesn’t change the game very much but it more or less gives you different powers and abilities you can utilize during your adventure. At start you have 6 characters to choose from which the basic character stats and skills are improved as you level up and gain experience. From their you can allocate points to your attributes. The game does a good job of keeping you immersed in the game world with its huge number of jobs and quests.

I also appreciated the sense of humor the developers put in the game. You could spend hours just searching and enjoying all of the in jokes that they filled the world with. Sacred 2 is absolutely filled with humor. Certainly one of the highlights for me was reading all of the tombstones in the graveyard.

Sacred 2 is a beautiful game, graphics are bright and colorful and run very smoothly. I was particularly impressed with the character and monster animations. This game looks and moves great and is certainly a stand out in the graphics criteria.

Multiplayer is very well done, the single player is set up so that players can jump in and out while your online as you travel the land with your buddies searching for adventure in either cooperative or competitive play.

Overall, Sacred 2 Fallen Angel is a quirky but yet enjoyable experience. It offers a experience that was lacking on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Sacred 2 Fallen Angel is a long lasting and rewarding game that offers you hours of playing time and is addicting as any current MMO on the market.

Pros

  • Game is beautiful
  • Is a worthy successor to the Diablo mantle
  • A quirky sense of humor fills the game
  • Sacred 2 offers hours of gameplay
  • Well done online play

Cons

  • The missions and quests can be somewhat boring at times
  • It is very easy to get lost in the game world
  • After 10 hours of hacking and slashing the game can be somewhat repetitive
