The only advantage in pre-ordering was you got to use Austin before everyone else. If you have Austin now, it will most likely cost you the same amount of points to download the other three as someone who didn't pre-order and downloads all four. At the end of the day, everything balances out. |

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
I had already pre-ordered from Gamestop when the Best Buy deal was announced, but I very rarely buy WWE DVD's, so the Best Buy deal didn't mean much to me.
My "balance" was quickly based on retail math. $60 for the game + $8? for the DLC... The base cost is the same for everyone. I probably could have gotten the game cheaper at WalMart, but the money saved off the price of the game would have been offset by the time to get there and how much gas I would use to drive there. Gamestop was within walking distance of work and I was able to pick up the game on my lunch break. If all four wrestlers are in the DLC, then I expect the cost to be the same for everyone under the assumption that it isn't possible to create a tiered pricing structure for a single DLC. That's based on my limited experience with XBox Live. I could be wrong there. Now, if I were THQ, I'm not sure I'd separate SCSA from the other three wrestlers. Even digitally, he's a big draw and will help drive purchases of the DLC. However, if SCSA does turn out to be a separate download, he shouldn't be free. Why give away something that you know will sell well. Again, it all about that money, money. yeah yeah. Lots of speculation about something we have very few, if any details about. We'll just have to wait and see what they end up doing. |

Tatsu and Steamboat(prime or old now)are must-haves for me with Snuka being a maybe and I already got Stone cold!,...Ryder would of been cool or more alt attires or whatever else But this seems cool enough to me and especially IF they are free as it's been rumored of free dlc in a few weeks after game release.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
this alleged DLC is a pack of CRAP! who wants those Legends? We want characters that shud have been in the game in the 1st place like Hart Dynasty and Zack Ryder just to name a few. I wud pay for them just so they come with their original soundtrack. THQ is really making me depressed with wrestling games. I wanna play 'em but these years my chances are decreasing significantly if this is what I have to look forward to.

People are acting as IF this will be the ONLY dlc characters pack!,IF this is true then there's still a chance of a Ryder/others dlc pack latter on.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
Yeah, those who pre-ordered are getting f'ed on this one.
Plus, the pack sucks anyway. Steamboat might be cool, but Snuka is a waste. And I've never understood the appeal of Tatsu. Yeah, he wrestles well, but there are TONS of people who wrestle well that would be better to put in this game that bring something ELSE to the game with them. Steamboat would be cool, but if this is true, I won't be getting it. Lame pack. Oh yeah, Ryder sucks too. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
I don't understand the complaint.
A. Preorders don't cost any extra then a day one release purchase B. Microsoft/Sony is going to charge the same ridiculous amount of $ for a 3 wrestler DLC pack with OR without Austin. In other words everybody gets what they want. It balances out.

1. They said pre order was the ONLY way to get austin. 2. I could have gotten a better deal by not going to gamestop. 3. Austin might have been free, but it cost me by going to gamestop instead of going with a better deal, and then expect me to pay the same price to get austin again! So in other words yes he was free, but by putting him out on the marketplace cost me. Then if i want to get the 3 other guys, im going to have to pay the same price as everyone else who doesnt have austin. So im paying the same price for less wrestlers. If i had known austin would be on the marketplace for sure, i would have bought it from best buy, got a 5 dollar WWE DVD. Talk about false advertisement. Gamestop/THQ should be sued.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
This isn't the first time a publisher lies about "exclusive" DLC. Most people (or those used to the formula by now) expected Austin to be DLC. Also it's STONE COLD. He's been in almost every SD game, and probably will be. You make it out as a one time purchase. It's the same Austin w/ the same botched moveset/entrance animations. If I want to play with a good Austin I'll pop in Here Come The Pain or SVR06. That's before they deleted all those good moves.
The "deal" you get may not be available to everyone else. Yes it's not fair, but the majority is going to pay a 60$ price tag anyway. Like I said, whatever the price tag, it's going to be about the same, with or without Austin. The same can go for the other 3. I might just want Tastu and The Dragon, but I don't really want Snuka/Austin, etc. But I must pay for all. These mixed packs THQ puts out are pretty random and not well thought out. They are set up so people are enticed to pay for just one of the four (obviously Austin). You think people wanted Super Crazy/Hass earlier this year? (who should've came packaged with the game, hell Haas wasn't rendered completely) No, it was for Bourne and DiBiase, the rest was filler. You're not paying for Austin "again". And you're not paying for less. Those who already have him have the advantage, because they are not forced to feel helpless to buy three other unwanted characters for one. So you guys have the advantage. By choosing to preorder for Austin, you simply supported Gamestop. That was the objective for THQ, not to support their fan base. It's just obvious marketing.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
Ok im not paying for austin again, but if i buy the DLC pack and austin is in it, then im essentially buying him, when i already have him. Why should i pay for something i already have? Anyway i dont care anymore im selling this POS game soon. So none of this will matter to me. Ill leave THQ to screw the fans over again like last year, and just sit on the sideline and laugh. Doubt ill ever buy a SVR game again.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
You feel silly now, just wait until Austin is a unlockable character like The Rock next year.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
Okay...perhaps I am not understanding how a pre-order works.
Did you pay $60 for Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 at Gamestop? Is this not the same amount you were paying for Smackdown Vs Raw 2010 at Best Buy, or Walgreens, or wherever? This statement "I paid for Steve Austin" keeps coming up, and I'm uncertain where it is from. One pays for SvR2010. From there, you get something different depending on who you decided to pay. If you paid Gamestop, you got to have Austin before everyone else. I'm uncertain about you, but I was always under the impression that Austin would eventually be DLC. I balanced "Well, I can get a WWE DVD that I'll watch twice for $5, or I can get a character with his movesets that my friends will want to play as soon as I get the game." Friends trumped DVD for me. I can't see ANYONE that has been playing XBox games for more than a year believing that Austin wouldn't,at some point, be DLC, even if they didn't explicitly say that he would be. Honestly - what of the people that don't have a Gamestop near them? "Sorry for living in the boonies, playa...no Bionic Redneck for you EVER". Perhaps you really should have gone the Best Buy direction. In either case, this game came out in October. There is no release date on the DLC that I've seen. Let's say it comes out in December. You "paid" to have him for three months when noone else could play as him. Is that not enough for you?

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
Exactly. Your effectively giving GS money over other distributors. And it's basically the same price.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
I was under the impression that Austin would eventually become DLC for everyone considering he was already on the disc. Those suckered into the whole pre-order deal GS has, well I'm sorry but all you did was pay to play as a character we were all going to wind up getting anyway.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
I wanted to say 2 things.
1st) About the Austin situation who cares? I pre-ordered and got him but I don't care if he's in the DLC pack i'll buy it for Snuka and Steamboat. However to people asking stuff like "Why should I pay for him when I already have him?" EVERYONE already has him. He's on the disc. So no-one should pay for Austin. And pre-ordering was the only way to get him. It's not when DLC is out but so what? I'd rather have more people able to get him since he's on the disc. 2nd) I Stil hope there is more DLC that's not characters. I want more Design a Story animations/scenes. |

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
That might be a good point if the game wasn't the same price whichever way you bought it, unless you bought it from some guy on a street corner somewhere. Including Austin certainly makes sense from a business standpoint, as people will pay for him alone. I personally would get more use out of someone like Steamboat or Tatsu, 'cause I have an occassional weakness for playing "martial artsy" wrestlers.

Re: Dlc announced in magazine ??
From an ad I saw in the uk version of gamemaster magazine, it said that Austin would be available for download to those who didn't pre order 90 days AFTER release date of the game..

I love how everyone immediately thinks this is real despite no one having a scan of the magazine.
